Project Objective
To establish a modern livestock registration and marking system that secures livestock ownership and production tracking. The system enables the government to monitor total livestock population, identify ownership, and trace the origin of animals through biometric-backed registration and physical marking.
Brief
The LRMIS was developed to provide a national livestock registry that integrates owner identity with livestock details using national identification. It categorizes owners into individuals, institutions, and traders, and operates across all ten districts of Lesotho.
The system is used by officers in field stations, district offices, and the Ministry headquarters to record, manage, and retrieve livestock and owner data for planning, traceability, and law enforcement purposes.
