Project Purpose
To build digital capacity among the staff of Lesotho College of Education through practical training on essential computer applications and modern online teaching tools, supporting the institution’s transition towards digital-ready administrative operations and online learning environments.
Brief
Computer Business Solutions, in collaboration with Vodacom Lesotho Foundation, successfully delivered a structured digital skills training programme targeting both academic and non-academic staff of Lesotho College of Education. The programme addressed key administrative and teaching challenges by equipping staff with hands-on knowledge of digital tools, improving operational efficiency and enhancing the delivery of educational content through online platforms.
Key Training Focus Areas
For Non-Teaching Staff (Administrative Personnel):
- Microsoft Word: Document creation, formatting, and advanced editing.
- Microsoft Excel: Data entry, basic to advanced formulas, pivot tables, and reporting.
- Microsoft PowerPoint: Effective presentation design and delivery techniques.
For Teaching Staff (Academic Personnel):
- Learning Management Systems: Using Google Classroom for course delivery, assignment management, and student engagement.
- Virtual Learning Tools: Managing virtual classes through Google Meet with live interaction and collaboration.
- Content Creation Tools: Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Calendar, and Tasks for streamlined lesson preparation and communication.
- File Storage and Collaboration: Google Drive for secure file storage and real-time document collaboration.
- Screen Recording Tools: Using Bandicam and Loom for recording lectures, demonstrations, and video-based assignments.
Project Scope
- Hands-on, scenario-driven sessions for both administrative and academic functions.
- Interactive group training with real-life applications relevant to the participants’ daily responsibilities.
- Knowledge assessments and certification of completion.
- Post-training support to promote continued skills development.
Methodology
The project applied a practical, needs-based training model, combining live demonstrations, interactive discussions, and supervised practice exercises. Sessions were designed to accommodate varying digital literacy levels, with daily progress reviews and post-session evaluations. The approach ensured participants could immediately apply their new skills in both administrative and teaching environments.
